What is Yojijyukugo?
Yoji-jyukugo refers to a four-character idiom
in Japanese.
Yoji means "four-character" and
Jyukyugo means "idiom." The definition
of Yoji-jyujugo is any Japanese compound word
consisting of four Kanji characters.
Types of Yojijyukugo
There are also two types of Yoji-jyukugo.
One type of Yojijyukugo is idiomatic and the
other one is non-idiomatic.
Most of the idiomatic Yoji-jukugo are stemmed
from Japanese social customs and proverbs.
For a purpose of creating a tattoo design,
therefore, many of the idiomatic Yoji-jukugo
would be perfectly suited for expressing your
idea, belief, creedo, and personality as they
can precisely get across what you wish to
express yourself with a concise style.
For example, Ichigo Ichie means that "treasure
every person you meet, as this may be the
last time to meet the person, or you happen
to meet the person just once in your lifetime."

There are a very large number of the Japanese
four-character idioms that you could use for
your tattoo design. We'll post some more Yoji-jyukugo
on this site if some of you are interested
in it.
