Topic [How to Write Your Name in Japanese Symbol]

Writting your name is in Japanese is usually done by using the phonetic translations - 'A Te Ji' in Japanese.

What is the phonetic translations?
------------------------------
Your name is translated into Japanese symbol by how it is pronounced, and suitable substitute characters are allocated to each sound.
For example, Tom is 3 words in English. But, 2 words in Japanese - 'To' 'Mu' (Romaji Writting) - •x–²
You see what I mean?

3 different scripts
-----------------------------
In Japanese, you can write things with 3 different scripts.

1. Hiragana - ‚Ђ炪‚È
2. Katakana - ƒJƒ^ƒJƒi
3. Kanji - Š¿Žš

Which one do I use? It depends on the situation.
Writting Japanese people's name usually in Kanji, and writting English name is usually done by Katakana.
But, many English speaking people prefer their name in Kanji.
Of course, it is possible to write your name in Japanese Kanji.

Is there any meaning?
-----------------------------
A lot of people ask me that if there is any meanings in their Japanese name. Well, the name itself doen't have any meaning.
But, each substitute character has a meaning, and can be different meaning by whom and how your name is translated.
Because, there are many ways to write English name in Kanji.
For example, Tom
If I translate that, I put •x–² which is 'Rich and Dream' in English.
But, it can be “s–¶ which is 'Capital and Fog'.
